Ashley Cain insists he’s keeping ‘positive’ amid baby daughter’s leukaemia battle and she’s ‘fighting amazingly’
Ashley Cain has assured fans he is keeping ‘positive’ as his two-month-old daughter Azaylia continues to fight leukaemia.
The Ex On The Beach star, 30, previously revealed that Azaylia was due to start her third round of chemotherapy after being diagnosed with a ‘rare and aggressive form’ of leukaemia.
The eight-week-old has AML (known as acute myeloid leukaemia) and is currently undergoing treatment, with Ashley sharing an update on Instagram on Monday and revealing his daughter is ‘fighting amazingly’.
Posting a video to his page, Ashley was seen cutely doting on his little girl, as he teased that she had woken up ‘very cheeky’ and has been ‘very energetic’ despite her cancer battle.
‘We’ve woken up positive, we’re accepting what’s going on. This little soldier is fighting amazingly, it’s incredible. She’s got AML, acute myeloid leukaemia, and she has a very aggressive case of it as she’s so little,’ he revealed in the video.
Ashley continued: ‘She’s fighting an uphill battle, but I have every faith she’s going to surprise everyone. And day by day she’s surprising us all, us, the doctors, everybody. And not only that, but she’s doing it with absolute style and grace.’
He told fans: ‘We’re gonna keep fighting and we’re gonna keep working, we’re taking it step by step… as long as we keep having these positive results, we’re gonna be alright. As long as we’ve got a glimmer of hope, no matter how small, we’re holding onto that.’
Ashley thanked his friends and fans for continuing to send their messages and prayers of support, as he believes it’s helping his family through the tough time.
He captioned his latest update: ‘Somebody woke up very cheeky today and inspired me and the whole ward to smile and be positive! Despite her condition, she is the happiest and most energetic person in the room and as much as we’re trying to be there and help her, she’s always the one fuelling the flame of hope for us all! 💯❤️.
‘The amount of love and support we have received is overwhelming and heart filling BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY your prayers and positivity is creating an energy that we’re all fuelling off and using to grind through this tough time.
‘SO PLEASE PLEASE KEEP IT GOING! You’re all amazing and we really appreciate you! 💯❤️ LETS GO CHAMP 🏆.’
Leukaemia is a cancer of the white blood cells, with some forms of the cancer more common in children.
Ashley shares daughter Azaylia with girlfriend Safiyaa Vorajee. They welcomed their baby in August, with Azaylia weighing 7lbs 10oz.
Just weeks after her birth, the reality star told fans that becoming a father has been the ‘most precious and humbling feeling’.
Alongside a series of sweet selfies of him and little Azaylia, Ashley wrote: ‘Daddy’s Girl! 👨🏽❤️👶🏼. Having my baby daughter has been the most precious and humbling feeling imaginable.
‘A form a responsibility that I can never turn my back on, a priority which I value so much higher than my own and a form of love I didn’t ever think possible! 💯. Thank you baby Azaylia, Daddy loves you! ❤️.’
Fans will recognise Ashley from MTV dating series Ex On The Beach. He first appeared on the show in season two, alongside Gaz Beadle and Charlotte Crosby, before returning for its all-stars series for season five.
